What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We do not sell or share your personal information with any third parties for marketing purposes.

This website may collect personal data from users and site visitors. This may include personal data, such as name, telephone number, email address, personal account preferences; transactional data, such as purchase information; and technical data, such as information about cookies.

Personal data collected is used to process orders and serve our customers.  If the user has given active consent additional personal data may be collected and retained.

Personal data is not just created by a user’s interactions with the site.  Personal data is also generated from technical processes such as contact forms, comments, cookies, analytics, and third party embeds.

By default, this website does not collect any personal data about visitors, and only collects the data shown on the User Profile screen from registered users.  However, some of plugins may collect personal data.  The relevant information is below.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it.  The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.  After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included.  Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

Personal data such as name, email, telephone number, subject, message, comments, files and images may be submitted through our contact forms.  Submission to our contact forms is used for customer service purposes and may be retained to improved responses to questions that are asked, information submitted through them is not used for marketing purposes.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies.  These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment.  These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies.  This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices.  Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year.  If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks.  If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser.  This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Information shared with a payment provider to process payments includes:

  • Email
  • Address
  • Phone
  • City/State/Zip
  • Unique payment identifier
  • Payment provider identifier

How long we retain your data

Contact form entries and analytics records are kept for current and future analysis, and customer purchase records are kept indefinitely to provide customer support and service.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely.  This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile.  All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username).  Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.  You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you.  This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Additional information

When entering an order, you may need to enter names, sizes, numbers, Captain or Alternate, and notes pertaining to each garment to be produced.  This data will be retained indefinitely with order information to assist answering customers questions about past or future orders.

Plugin for image optimization

This website sends images to the WPMU DEV servers to optimize them for web use. This includes the transfer of EXIF data. The EXIF data will either be stripped or returned as it is.  It is not stored on the WPMU DEV servers.

Plugin for orders and checkout

We collect information about you during the checkout process on our store.  This information may be shared with our third-party shipping partners.

What we collect and store

While you visit our site, we’ll track:

  • Products you’ve viewed: we’ll use this to, for example, show you products you’ve recently viewed
  • Location, IP address and browser type: we’ll use this for purposes like estimating taxes and shipping

Plugin for email responses & cart contents

When shopping, we keep a record of your email and the cart contents for up to 30 days on our server. This record is kept to re-populate the contents of your cart if you switch devices or needed to come back another day.  Read our privacy policy here.

Plugin for Checkout & Cart Services

By using this extension, the website may be storing personal data or sharing data with external services.

Data Used:  For payments with PayPal or Stripe:  purchase total, currency, billing information.  For taxes:  the value of goods in the cart, value of shipping, destination address.  For checkout rates: destination address, purchased product IDs, dimensions, weight, and quantities.  For shipping labels: customer’s name, address as well as the dimensions, weight, and quantities of purchased products.

Data Synced:  For payments, we send the purchase total, currency and customer’s billing information to the respective payment processor.  Please see the respective third party’s privacy policy for more details.  For automated taxes we send the value of goods in the cart, the value of shipping, and the destination address to TaxJar.  Please see TaxJar’s Privacy Policy for details about how they handle this information.  For checkout rates we send the destination ZIP/postal code and purchased product dimensions, weight and quantities to USPS or Canada Post, depending on the service used.  For shipping labels we send the customer’s name, address as well as the dimensions, weight, and quantities of purchased products to ShippingEasy.  We also store the purchased shipping labels on our server to make it easy to reprint them and handle support requests.

Plugin for Anti-Spam Service & Comment Spam

We collect information about visitors who comment on Sites that use our anti-spam service.  The information we collect depends on how the  the anti-spam software is setup for the Site, but typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).
